Wild Nature of Karpathos maintains an endless wealth of dozens of endemic species of fauna and flora of our country in the cliffs, forests, slopes, beaches and small plains.<\/p>\n

It is said that the island took its name from the unknown, today, “karpaso<\/strong>” plant.<\/p>\n

Both the geographical location of Karpathos and the sustainable lifestyle of the inhabitants have so far rescued a huge number of wild animals and plants, which are characterized by a great degree of endemism.<\/p>\n

The areas “Central Karpathos: Kali Limni-Lastos-Kira Panagia” and “North Karpathos and Saria” have been included in the European Ecological Network NATURA 2000<\/strong> with codes GR4210002 and GR4210003 respectively and have been recognized by the scientific community as CORINE biotopes<\/strong>, among the 39 biotopes of South Aegean Region. It is an area of 154 square kilometers and covers both sea and land areas.<\/p>\n
