Othos is often lost in the clouds, as it is the tallest village of Karpathos, at an altitude of 510 meters.
Therefore its amphitheatrically built houses have a panoramic view.
Traditional houses exist in all the villages, but here the visitor can admire the pebbled floor, wood-carved sofa, woven fabrics, embroidery and other ornaments with its quietness, since one of these houses operates as a museum.
In Othos it is worth visiting the Wood Sculpture Workshop where the famous lyres of Karpathos and other elaborate wood carvings are made. The late Giannis Halpis, the figure of the island, “mantinadoros (creator of mantinades) and lyraris (lyre player” may no longer exist, but it is worth looking for some of the paintings he made when he was elder, because they are invaluable as folk art items of Karpathos.
Stes belong to Othos and is an area with orchards and water.
