It is the second port of the island and the port of Olympos, the traditional village of Karpathos, and impresses with its imposing landscapes, the old windmills and the well-preserved old buildings.

Diafani can be reached by boat from Karpathos or by car. It is 70 km from the capital. It is ideal for tranquility and enjoyment of the wonderful nature. The area has been inhabited since ancient times. The archaeological excavations brought to light a Mycenaean tomb and other important findings that are kept in the British Museum.

The pebbled beaches of Diafani and Vanada are famous for their clear waters, In the village there are rented rooms and one can find fresh fish in the village’s seaside taverns.

From this point you can visit the island of Saria, located to the north of Karpathos, where you can enjoy your swim in distant but quaint beaches. In Saria, ruins of an Arab settlement are preserved. The Saria Island along with the northern part of Karpathos is a protected area of the European program NATURA.
